Meet our traveling stars! These feathered friends have a special mission: Bringing smiles, sharing their charm, and educating communities about parrots and rescue life while continuing their own journeys.

Theodore "Teddy"

Moluccan Cockatoo

Teddy is the proud captain of our “Go Team.” He claimed this title! Always the first to arrive and the last to leave, he goes above and beyond in everything he does. Vocal and full of personality, Teddy lets you know exactly what he wants. He’s a beloved part of KiKi’s Legacy and a shining example of the bright future that awaits every parrot in our care.

Sarah

Hyacinth Macaw

Sarah is impossible to miss with her stunning blue feathers! She arrived at KiKi’s Legacy after quite the journey from San Diego to Charlotte on a “red eye” flight. She needed emergency medical care and nurturing support, but the moment she stepped out of her travel cage, her eyes sparkled with life. Kind, interactive, protective, and occasionally a little smug, Sarah quickly won our hearts. Today, she’s Teddy’s right-hand partner at presentations and an essential member of our Go Team, showing the world the difference love and care can make.

Apache

Harlequin Macaw

Apache proudly serves as one of our ambassadors! She came to us from a very difficult home and arrived with almost no feathers. But, with love, care, and proper nutrition, she healed and learned to trust again. Her first words were, “Car, I want to go, I am beautiful.” From that moment, she joined our Go Team. Today, Apache continues to inspire everyone she meets with her charm, courage, and playful spirit.

Zoey

Hybrid Macaw (Hyacinth-Military)

Zoey’s personality is a perfect mix of her two species: Hyacinth-Military. Gentle, intelligent, and endlessly curious, she has been part of KiKi’s Legacy for ten years and has adapted beautifully despite losing her sight to cataracts two years ago. Remarkably, she quickly adapted, learning her surroundings and counting her steps with ease. Zoey even joined our Go Team, showing that with love, patience, and familiar voices, parrots can adjust and thrive. She loves meet-and-greets and continues to inspire everyone with her resilience and gentle spirit.

Sunshine

Umbrella Cockatoo

Sunshine has been a cherished member of KiKi’s Legacy for twelve years. She arrived after being relinquished to us, following a long and loving home. Sunshine is the picture of a kind, quiet, and people-loving parrot. She has strong opinions about the things that matter to her, but she never bites, screams, or misbehaves. Sunshine is an example of a relinquished parrot by their beloved family.

As part of our travel team, Sunshine brings her own flair. Sometimes she decides she’d rather stay in her travel cage and watch the world go by. At KiKi’s, we honor her choices, and her gentle, diva-like spirit makes her a joy to be around.

Wallace

Umbrella Cockatoo

Wallace is simply fabulous! Bold, sassy, and delightfully independent, he likes things done his way. He has two distinct voices, his own Wallace voice and a Pete voice, each with its own personality. In fact, he often has conversations between the two! Wallace is clever, knows his colors, and loves tackling puzzles, keeping everyone entertained with his playful spirit.

Lilli

Blue and Gold Macaw

Lilli is a true charmer! Her vibrant spirit shines so brightly that you hardly notice her lack of feathers. She’s active, affectionate, and loves greeting every visitor who comes to meet our parrots, spreading joy wherever she goes. She especially loves macadamia nuts, which always make her day.

Snowball

Umbrella Cockatoo

Snowball came to KiKi’s Legacy from Wilmington, NC, and he immediately told us his name: “I’m Snowball!” At first, he had some challenges: He could be aggressive and over-preened, which has made adoption difficult. With patience, love, and time to build trust, Snowball blossomed into a confident and playful parrot. Now, he’s our very own “Dancing Travolta,” full of energy, learning colors, solving puzzles, and thriving in enrichment activities that keep him engaged and happy.

Kitt and Darla

Amazon Parrots (Lilac-crowned & Blue-fronted)

Kitt and Darla are two fabulous Amazons with an extraordinary past. They actually flew through the Amazon rainforest! Traced by their leg bands, they came into the U.S. legally and are likely around forty-five years old. When they first arrived at KiKi’s Legacy, they were shy and scared and would even fall to the bottom of their cage at a glance. We tried separating them, but they are happiest together.

Today, they thrive in their extra-large cage, enjoying treats from our hands, playing with toys, or simply relaxing on top of their cage. Life at KiKi’s Legacy is no-stress, with great food, gentle care, and plenty of admiration. They’ve chosen to enjoy their days on their own terms: Beautiful, content, and completely themselves. We think that’s just perfect!

Joseph “Joey”

Mealy Amazon Parrot

Joey is a quietly charming little guy with a gentle heart. He loves to perch on his favorite spot and watch the world go by, often unnoticed because of his soft green feathers. But say his name, and he’ll happily offer his foot for a step-up and you’ve just made his day! Joey enjoys being near people and content perching on your leg, though he’s not much of a snuggler. He also enjoys chewing on soft wood toys, especially while relaxing during movies.

Joey’s first home was with a wonderful woman who considered him part of the family. After her passing, he joined KiKi’s Legacy, where he continues to shine as a rare and fabulous companion. Soft, kind, and dependable, Joey loves gentle head pets, sharing his beauty and calm spirit with everyone he meets.

PeeDee

Goffin's Cockatoo

PeeDee is a fun pal! He is a clever Goffin’s Cockatoo who is super smart and loves to train. He loves solving puzzles and staying busy. Well-socialized and affectionate, he’s happy simply hanging out with you. He also has a playful side, bobbing his head and body to show his joy and charm to everyone around him!

Thomas "Tommy"

Catalina Macaw

Tommy is a charming older gentleman, likely in his mid-fifties, with a personality as big as his vibrant feathers. Fun fact: he only has one leg, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit! Tommy is always the first to the food bowl and loves sharing his commentary, like warning the other parrots about the UPS driver outside.

He’s a true comedian, delighting everyone with his antics, especially when out in public perched on a volunteer’s arm. Curious strangers are often greeted with his witty personality and a laugh, “Check leg!”, proving that life with a parrot is full of joy. Tommy brings smiles wherever he goes and shows everyone just how spectacular life can be with a one-legged feathered friend.

Colonel Bird “CB”

Umbrella Cockatoo

CB is a magnificent Umbrella Cockatoo in his mid-twenties with a big personality to match his size. He came to KiKi’s from a loving home and is known for his expressive voice and confident attitude. CB’s charm and character make him impossible to ignore, and he loves showing off his unique personality to everyone he meets.

Mr. Phoogii

Umbrella Cockatoo

Meet Mr. Phoogii. He’s a big, bold, and absolutely fabulous Umbrella Cockatoo. He has impeccable manners and loves spending time outdoors, especially enjoying rides in his stroller. Confident and charming, Mr. Phoogii knows just how to make his presence known and adored by everyone around him.

Tyler

Scarlet Macaw

Tyler is a small but energetic Scarlet Macaw who loves being part of the action with our volunteers. Curious and social, he wants to see everything up close and personal. Tyler is a playful spirit and he loves his toys (going through about 1–2 a day!), bobs his body, flaps his wings, and brings joy and energy wherever he goes.

Maddie

Catalina Macaw

Maddie is around 55 years old and full of charm. She is sweet, highly intelligent, and had a broken wing, but it doesn’t slow her down. Her expressive face lights up in response to everyone she meets, and she seems to follow conversations, reacting as if she’s truly listening. Gentle, kind, and trusting, Maddie connects with people in a way that makes every interaction special.

Mischa

Scarlet Macaw

Mischa is a true Scarlet Macaw: big, bright red, and wonderfully opinionated. She is relaxed and approachable, never threatening, and loves a little playful roughhousing during her out of cage playtime. Mischa also enjoys being part of the Go Team, bringing her bold personality and charm to every adventure.

Jamie

Blue and Gold Macaw

Jamie is a gentle giant of a Blue and Gold Macaw. He is kind and patient with children, and is equally comfortable being the center of attention or quietly observing from the background. Jamie’s calm, adaptable nature makes him a joy to be around and a wonderful companion for any setting.

Katie

Lesser Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo

Katie is an adorable girl in her mid-teens! She has a sweet and affectionate personality who loves everyone she meets. She is super quiet, but she happily steps up for attention and thrives on interaction. Her idea of a perfect day includes fun toys and spending time on her Java tree, sharing her playful and loving spirit with everyone around her.
